The Wiggles Propel Forward with New North American Partners

The Wiggles announced several new licensing partnerships in the U.S. and Canada. New partners extend the brand through educational play-based-learning, DIY, fashion, accessories, HBA, tabletop, and party goods. These partners include TCG for puzzles, games and floor mats; Danawares for tabletop, stationery, craft, and activity; Jcorp for daywear; Gertex Hosiery for headwear and hosiery; Centura Brands for HBA and bath; and Riley Blake Designs for fabrics and DIY. Product will hit shelves in 2019 with a handful of specialty toys, apparel, and accessories available in Canada at Toys “R” Us Canada and Walmart this fall.

Mad-Snap1MAD Magazine to Bring Daily Humor, Content to Snapchat

A new content collaboration brings DC Entertainment’s MAD Magazine to the Snapchat platform. Falling under a global partnership forged by Time Warner Inc. (now WarnerMedia) and Snap last year, MAD content will launch will roll out seven days a week beginning September 1.

The collaboration brings MAD’s satirical content of contemporary politics and other topical issues to Snapchat, along with classic and nostalgic MAD material, reimagined for Snapchat’s mobile-first audience. The project is overseen by John Ficarra, the former MAD senior vice-president and executive editor who serves as a creative advisor for DC Entertainment, and Peter Girardi, executive vice-president of Blue Ribbon Content, the digital content studio of the Warner Bros. Television Group.

Content will include features such as .gifs, memes, slideshows, interactive lists, and cinemagraphs. Some concepts will be curated by MAD writers and illustrators, drawing from MAD’s decades of magazine archives. Other concepts will be brand new, built around breaking news and timely issues.

The Smithsonian has teamed up with New York-based Vint & York to create four new limited-edition frames inspired by Smithsonian collections.

The Time Capsule Collection is inspired by the culture, art, and fashion from the 1920s to the 1960s, featuring sunglasses and prescription eyeware crafted in high-quality acetates with metal details.

The collection includes a bold cat-eye frame, inspired by a Art Nouveau-style Tiffany necklace; a’50s-inspired browline silhouette, which draws inspiration from the Bell X-1, the first airplane to fly faster than the speed of sound; a round frame, inspired by Joseph Magnin fashion illustrations from the 1960s; and a square frame, inspired by a Henry Booth 1940s menswear advertisement.
