No Blizzard in Toy Fair Weather Forecast

It’s been another terribly cold winter in New York City’s tri-state area. But this year has not been as bad as last year’s Polar Vortex winter (unless you live in Boston). But the one bright spot is that there are no major storms expected during this year’s Toy Fair. Here is the upcoming forecast from weather.com.

LEGO Jurassic World Trailer Released

Watch the first trailer for LEGO Jurassic World here. It is the latest addition to the LEGO videogame series from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group, and Universal Partnerships & Licensing. The all-new game will feature the first three blockbuster Jurassic Park films as well as Jurassic World, the next installment in the Jurassic Park series, in theaters June 12, 2015, in LEGO videogame form. The game will be available summer 2015 for the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system; the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system for Microsoft; PlayStation4 and PlayStation3 computer entertainment systems; PlayStationVita handheld entertainment system; the Wii U system from Nintendo; Nintendo 3DS handheld system; and Windows PC. The videogame will complement the new LEGO Jurassic World building sets, which will be available in May.

Thomas Kinkade Company Sold

The Thomas Kinkade Company announced in January a change in ownership from The Kinkade Family Trust to Art Brand Studios, an affiliated entity of Next Point Capital, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm. The managing partner of Next Point Capital, Mark Mickelson, has a long-term relationship with The Kinkade family and The Thomas Kinkade brand. He had also previously been an investor in the company.

“Because of the company’s past relationship with Mark, I believe he understands all aspects of the business and shares my vision of maintaining the superb quality of The Thomas Kinkade brand and honoring the Kinkade legacy,” said Nanette Kinkade in a statement. “I look forward to my continued collaboration with the company through The Thomas Kinkade Museum, a non-profit organization established to educate and support artists pursuing the visual arts.”

Angry Birds Stella Launches at Justice

Rovio Entertainment has partnered with tween apparel retailer Justice to launch Angry Birds Stella.

Built around Rovio’s Angry Birds Stella game, this six-month Justice program features an assortment of merchandise including apparel, plush, and accessories available exclusively at Justice Stores and ShopJustice.com. Marketing efforts debuted in mid-November introducing tween girls to the Stella brand through nearly 1,000 Justice locations nationwide. Stella products launched exclusively January 15, 2015, with a full line-up of apparel, plush, and accessories and will continue to roll-out with assorted products through 2015 and beyond.

Angry Birds Stella has had more than 25 million game downloads since it launched in September 2014 and more than 160 million video views through the RovioToon.tv channel and YouTube. Rovio’s Justice program is the latest addition to a consumer-focused lineup of Angry Birds content that includes games, an animated series available through the Toons.tv channel, and a planned summer 2016 feature film.

Elegant Baby Relocates NYC Showroom

Elegant Baby has relocated its New York City Showroom from 112 West 34th Street next door to 110 West 34th Street, Suite 400. Since the 1960s, the North Carolina-headquartered, Elegant Baby/Baby Needs, Inc., has been located in the Children’s Apparel Building, most commonly known as the 112 Building.

At the end of 2014, Macy’s announced its takeover of several floors of the 112 building for its offices, which brought about the move for Elegant Baby.
