Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana and Discovery officially launched their previously announced joint venture, redknot. The announcement coincides with the greenlight of two new animated series and the addition of Patricia Burns as the company’s executive manager and supervising producer.
BBC Studios, distributor and licensor for the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning animated series Bluey, is once again expanding its licensing program with partner renewals and new licensees. The company has renewed its licensing deals for Bluey with Spin Master, Horizon Group and Jay Franco (U.S. and Canada). Additionally, TOMY International has expanded their Bluey lines, adding the Pop Up Bluey game (Global excl. Asia).
Mattel, Inc has announced that Season 27 of the animated series Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go premieres March 7 on Netflix. Featuring all-new original music, Season 27 consists of 26 11-minute episodes released in two 13-episode installments, with the second half of the season debuting September 19. The second portion of Season 27 includes the franchise’s first-ever 60-minute holiday movie, Thomas & Friends: The Christmas Letter Express, debuting late 2024. Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go is co-produced by Mattel Television Studios and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Studios.

Licensing International has announced that six executives—Paul Cannon, Caprice Australia; Carolyn D’Angelo, Gordon Brothers; Pamela Deese, ArentFox Schiff; Raj Malik, Bioworld Merchandising; Marie-Laure Marchand, Chefclub; and George Wade, Bay Laurel Advisors—were elected by the Licensing International membership to serve three-year terms on its Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2023. As these six new board members joining the Licensing International Board, Steve Scebelo, President of NFL Players Inc., will continue to serve as chairperson; Veronica Hart, EVP of Global Franchise Planning for Paramount Consumer Products & Experiences, will continue to serve as vice chairperson; and Marc Schneider, Chief Financial and Chief Operating Officer at Beanstalk, will continue to serve as treasurer.
