Commonwealth Signs with Luv Me Buddies

Lavish Rights announced that it has just signed Commonwealth Toy & Novelty Company, Inc., through its U.S. agent Jewel Branding and Licensing, to create plush toys and pillows for its Luv Me Buddies. The deal includes distribution across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Australia. The products are expected to be at retail in spring 2011.

Lavish Rights’ targeted 100-day strategy has enabled the company to focus on directed product presentations, which helps its agents and licensees attract retail.

Lavish is now looking for stationery and gift partners as well as retailers who are interested in developing private lines.

Swagg for the Holidays

Mobile commerce solutions provider Firethorn Holdings, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm, Inc., and Discover Financial Services recently announced their collaboration on Firethorn’s soon-to-be-released Swagg mobile gift card application. Under their exclusive agreement, Discover Network will provide core processing services for payment transactions when the Swagg service is utilized at leading national retailers across the U.S.

Swagg is Firethorn’s direct-to-consumer mobile commerce offering with “smart” technology that allows consumers to purchase, personalize, and exchange gift cards directly from their mobile device. Swagg will also provide consumers mobile access to account information and targeted offers. Swagg’s technology will change the way consumers transact with their favorite brands by enabling smart, efficient, and rewarding transactions on the go.

Firethorn is actively working with merchants toward launching Swagg in time for this holiday season. American Apparel has signed on as a merchant. Watch the video to see how it works.

Kardashians Create Clothing Line

Women’s Wear Daily recently reported that the Kardashian sisters have signed a global deal with Jupi Corp. to launch ready-to-wear, accessories, lingerie, swimwear, and shoes into midtier department stores starting in 2011.

WWD says that the line’s first year U.S. sales are expected to be in the $20–$40 million range. The Kardashian sisters are expected to be featured in the global ad campaign.

How about a licensing program for the adorable baby Mason? After all, it’s never too early to follow in mom’s footsteps.

She-Ra’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

This year marks the 25th anniversary of She-Ra from the 1980s animated television series, She-Ra: Princess of Power. She-Ra, also known as Princess Adora, is the twin sister of He-Man (Prince Adam) and the lead heroine in the Masters of the Universe franchise.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, Classic Media (owner of the rights to He-Man, She-Ra, and the rest of the Masters of the Universe) is rolling out commemorative programs with licensee, Mattel, which will release collectibles on www.MattyCollector.com throughout the year.

The first season of the series will be released on DVD. It will also be available through digital downloads on iTunes and Hulu. In addition, for the first time, the entire series is coming to DVD, She-Ra: The Complete Series 25th Anniversary Edition.

Classic Media is currently looking for licensees for apparel (both adult and kids), accessories, domestics, costumes, and footwear for the brand.
