Mondo TV Studios, part of the Mondo TV Group, one of the largest European producers and distributors of animated content, together with family entertainment maverick Kenn Viselman and Meteo Expert has announced big news for its mega-hit MeteoHeroes: a TV debut in North America on PBS, and new awards inspired by the environmentally focused animated children’s show.

The TV series – coproduced by Mondo TV S.p.A and the leading weather forecasting centre Meteo Operations Italia (MOPI) in partnership with Kenn Viselman’s itsy bitsy Entertainment – debuted on PBS on the 22nd of April with an Earth Day Special And the Adventure Begins in two strategic runs: at 9.30 am and 5:30 p.m (PST).

MeteoHeroes premiered in North America as result of a new partnership involving Kenn Viselman (Teletubbies, Thomas the Tank Engine) and his itsy bitsy Entertainment Company (TibECo), along with the show’s co-producers.Their first collaboration has also supported the launch of a MeteoHeroes video game for PlayStation.

The First Annual North American MeteoHeroes Sunny Awards and its winners were announced on Earth Day. The awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of some extraordinary people and their commitment to saving Planet Earth. The awards will also come to Italy next autumn; more territories will be confirmed later this year.

The award categories and winners are as follows:

Humanitarian of the Year – Gal Gadot (star of Wonder Woman) in recognition of her efforts to shine a light on climate change and promote the need for climate change education for our youth.

Corporation of the Year – The Honest Company for all the work the company has done relating to climate change and building awareness of this escalating problem.

The MeteoHeroes’ Honorary SuperHero of 2022 – Ninth-grader Robbie Bond in recognition of the outstanding work he has done in promoting climate change awareness as the founder of the nonprofit Kids Speak for Parks and producer of the film Climate Change is Destroying our National Parks.

The growing reach of the show, along with the release of the videogame and now the MeteoHeroes-inspired awards underline the strength of the MeteoHereoes brand and, of course, its important message about taking better care of our world.

MeteoHeroes is a global children’s television sensation which is already viewed in 145 countries and 22 languages. It premiered in North America on PBS on Earth Day. A companion series, executive produced by Kenn Viselman, is to launch in late summer 2022. The second season of MeteoHeroes (52 episodes x 13 ‘) had its world premiere on Cartoonito in Italy in April 2022. It is now showing from Monday to Thursday in the prime 8pm slot with a second viewing at 2.15pm the next day.

The show is centered on a group of six pint-sized superheroes, each of whom represents a different continent. They travel the globe to fight climate change disasters using their unique superhuman abilities to control weather phenomena. With humor and respect for its audience, the series sends an important message to children: You don’t need superpowers to save the world. MeteoHeroes is the only children’s series dedicated entirely to climate and environmental issues.

Kenn Viselman, who has created an empire by marketing and monetizing entertainment through his unique use of storytelling, says. “It’s amazing how quickly the MeteoHeroes are becoming part of the fabric of life. The Sunnys are just one way the MeteoHeroes are establishing themselves as a bellwether for change. Good for Earth… Good for you. I’m so excited and proud to be part of this brilliant and extremely timely series.”

Maria Bonaria Fois, CEO of Mondo TV Studios, says: “The arrival of MeteoHeroes in the North American market is a cause for celebration and the First Annual North American MeteoHeroes Sunny Awards are an ideal way to highlight the show’s important message about climate and environmental issues. My congratulations to all the Sunny Award winners: your work is truly valuable and important. We are honoured to be able to give these worthy winners the accolades they deserve in recognition for their work.”

Luigi Latini, creator of MeteoHeroes, says, “These international awards were created to emphasize the qualities of those who fight for the environment and those who are committed to the future of our planet. We want to give a voice and recognition to those who believe in this mission and help others find strength and courage to become real-life MeteoHeroes.”

The Sunny Awards are presented by Kids First (a project of the national non-profit Coalition for Quality Children’s Media), Mondo TV Studios (part of Mondo TV Group one of the largest European producers and distributors of animated content), and Kenn Viselman presents (global family mega-hit maker including Teletubbies, Thomas the Tank Engine which has amassed over 25 billion dollars in the world of children’s and family entertainment). The First Annual North American MeteoHeroes Sunny Awards were announced in time for Earth Day ‘22 and for the launch of the MeteoHeroes Special: And the Adventure Begins on PBS in America.
