DreamWorks Signs Jakks for Real Steel Toy Line

Jakks Pacific, Inc., announced a master toy licensing agreement with DreamWorks Studios to manufacture, distribute, and market a line of toys based on the live-action feature film, Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman. The agreement, brokered by licensing agent Striker Entertainment, includes action figures, accessories, playsets, roleplay, youth electronics, novelties, games and puzzles, Halloween costumes, and more.

Jakks expects to launch the product line in fall 2011 to coincide with the film’s November premiere in theaters nationwide.

Neil Patrick Harris as Spider-Man

Activision Publishing, Inc., and Marvel Entertainment announced that Neil Patrick Harris will reprise his role as Spider-Man in Activision’s upcoming Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which was just showcased at San Diego Comic-Con. In the game, players traverse through four unique worlds from Spider-Man lore and take on the role of four distinctly different Spider-Men—Amazing, Ultimate, Noir, and 2099—which will be brought to life by Neil Patrick Harris along with Josh Keaton, Christopher Daniel Barnes, and Dan Gilvezan, respectively.

Additionally, legendary creator and comic book icon Stan Lee will guide players through the storyline as the game’s narrator. The game will be available September 7 and is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB. Beenox is developing the game for Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Wii, and PC. Griptonite is creating a Nintendo DS version.

ESPN Consumer Products Launches X Games PunkMyPic

ESPN Consumer Products announced the launch of X Games PunkMyPic, giving action sports fans the ability to put themselves into an authentic X Games poster. Consumers simply text or email a personal image to xgames@punkmypic.com to create a free customized poster that can be shared with one click via social networks, mobile phones, or online. Fans can also download the poster for free to print at home or purchase an optional upgrade to a professionally printed poster. X Games PunkMyPic is available now and produced with ESPN licensee, aVinci Media Corporation.

RJM Licensing Signs Greeting Card Deal

RJM Licensing signed Pumpernickel Press to create embossed greetings cards for the Roger Bansemer Art licensing program. His paintings cover a wide spectrum from earlier abstract art to his present day representational painting of lighthouses, seascapes, shorebirds, and other such outdoor themes. Garth Brooks Catalog Available for Licensing

The Harry Fox Agency, Inc., a provider of copyright, licensing, royalty distribution, and outsourced technology services for the music industry, announced that Garth Brooks has made his catalog available for licensing with HFA. Licenses can now be obtained for Brooks’ compositions in cover recordings for CDs, permanent digital downloads (PDDs), ringtones, and interactive streams.

JEM Sportswear Signs with American Licorice Co.

American Licorice Company is in its first-ever licensing deal with JEM Sportswear for men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel. Scheduled to launch this fall, the line will feature logos and graphics inspired by the candy maker’s brands including Red Vines, Sour Punch, Extinguisher, Snaps, and Super Ropes products.
