Monster Jam Signs New Licensees

Feld Motor Sports announced that Monster Jam, the touring monster truck property, signed seven new companies to its licensing program. Monster Jam’s new licensing partnerships include Aquarius for boys’ accessories, including belts, wallets, small leather goods, gift sets, and cold weather and cut-and-sewn hats. Bakery Crafts will produce cake and cupcake toppers, including Pop Tops and plaques, cake kits, candles, Bakery Bites, and edible cake decorations. Playhut signed on for indoor and outdoor play tents, play structures, play environments, 3-D playmats, soft storage bins, and slumber products. Raymond Geddes will produce writing instruments and back-to-school paper products, such as notebooks, folders, memos, and notepads. Tara Toy will produce Design N’ Play giant activity sets and board games. Walter Foster Publishing signed on for activity books, including drawing lessons, bound-in drawing pads, puzzles, word games, cut-outs, and stickers. And XMG will create smartphone gaming applications and internet gaming applications for a global audience.

Monster Jam continues its relationship with four long-standing licensees, signing key renewals with American Greetings; Bentex Group, Extreme Concepts, and Dreamwave; Bioworld; and Square One Brands.

The New York Times Signs Deal With Andrews McMeel

The New York Times teamed with Andrews McMeel to create calendar products that leverage the iconic Times Crossword Puzzle. Andrews McMeel will introduce Day-to-Day and Engagement formats to major retailers nationwide beginning July 2012.

New Disney-Inspired Bridal Gowns from Alfred Angelo

Alfred Angelo, in collaboration with Disney Consumer Products, will introduce the 2012 Disney Fairy Tale Weddings bridal collection along with styles for bridesmaids and flower girls and a veil collection. The 2012 bridal collection will continue to be affordably priced with styles starting in the $800 range. Dresses will be in stores worldwide by January.

The 2012 bridal collection is inspired by seven Disney Princess characters: Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Tiana, and Rapunzel. Each gown incorporates modern style trends with the fantasy that is the core essence of each princess.

The Royal Maidens bridesmaid collection includes dresses in satin, luxe taffeta, and chiffon, in an array of silhouettes. Dresses will be available in up to 60 colors, including Disney-inspired shades such as Enchanted Glow, Moonlight Waltz, and Royal Bloom. The collection will start at $159 and be available in sizes 0–18 and 16W–30W.

The flower girl dresses, called Royal Blossoms, are designed as mini versions of the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo bridal gowns. The collection is offered for flower girls, but is also designed for special occasions and holidays. The flower girl collection will be available in sizes 2 toddler to girls size 16.

Jakks Pacific’s Tollytots to Create Rubik’s Cube Preschool Toys

Jakks Pacific’s Tollytots division signed a long-term agreement with Seven Towns Limited, the owners of Rubik’s Cube, to manufacture, distribute, and market a line of early learning preschool toys named Rubik’s Clever Kids. The line builds on parental recognition of the Rubik’s brand and offers a new approach to developmental toys for young kids featuring a variety of fun activities that teach important developmental and motor skills through the use of colors, shapes, and puzzle-solving.

The deal was brokered by The Sharpe Company, Inc., which represents Rubik’s Cube in North America on behalf of Seven Towns Limited. Tollytots expects to launch the Rubik’s product line at retailers nationwide next fall.

Dr. Seuss Taps The Wild East Group for India Licensing Program

The Wild East Group announced an alliance with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. Licensing and Marketing. The Wild East Group will use its resources to introduce and grow the Dr. Seuss property in India by building programs that foster creativity and stimulate the mind. The Wild East Group will work toward leveraging the Dr. Seuss brand through relevant and compelling consumer products in infant, children, and tween segments across education, apparel, accessories, and other categories. The program will serve not only to engage Dr. Seuss’s current fans, but also to expand the brand’s reach to new audiences and introduce Dr. Seuss to a new generation of fans in India.

AGP Signs Care Bears Apparel Deals In UK, Ireland

American Greetings Properties (AGP), the outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation, and licensing agent CPLG announced that Poetic Gem Licensing signed on as a Care Bears clothing licensee in the UK and Ireland. The line is expected to premiere this fall/winter. The partnership with Poetic Gem will further the growth of the Care Bears junior apparel business in the UK with retro-styled fashion T-shirts for girls, juniors, and women.

Frigidaire Expands Into Kitchen Products

Electrolux Global Brand Licensing and Artisan Manufacturing signed an agreement for licensed products under the Frigidaire brand. Artisan will launch a high-quality line of kitchen faucets and sinks in the United States and Canada.
