NBC to Launch New Kids TV Block

NBC will launch NBC Kids, a new Saturday morning programming block designed specifically to address the developmental needs of preschool-aged children, premiering on Saturday, July 7. Programmed by Sprout, this new three-hour block will feature educational series that promote active, healthy lifestyles for younger children. NBC Kids will include the U.S. broadcast premieres of preschool series The Wiggles, Sprout’s Noodle & Doodle, The Jim Henson Company’s Pajanimals, Poppy Cat, Justin Time, and LazyTown, which was designed to encourage healthy eating and exercise.

The Trash Pack Appoints Licensing Agent for UK, Ireland

Moose Toys has appointed Lisle International Licensing as its merchandising and licensing agent for The Trash Pack in the UK and Ireland. The Trash Pack is a collection of squishy mini figures based on unappetizing items you might find in your own trash bin. Trashie characters include Mouldy Milk, Rancid Roach, Putrid Pizza, and more.

The Jungle Book Gets App

The Jungle Book gets a modern twist with Disney Publishing’s newest Disney Classics app, The Jungle Book. The new app, targeted for ages 3–7, combines engaging storytelling with unique interactive elements, rich illustrations, music, and other surprises. The app tells the story of Mowgli and his jungle friends as they face the dangerous tiger Shere Khan and the unknown world of the humans. Features include reading modes for all ages, coloring pages and interactive puzzles, memory games, “The Bare Necessities” sing-along, and more. The app is available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

Big Bird & Friends to call Universal Studios Singapore Home

Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, Universal Parks & Resorts, and Sesame Workshop announced that Sesame Street is being developed into the latest family-oriented theme park experience at Southeast Asia’s first and only movie theme park. Opening in June, the park experience will comprise a Sesame Street-themed ride, special shows, and the Sesame Street Character Breakfast, which will be held on weekends and holidays.
