Saban Names Planeta Junior Licensing Agent for Power Rangers

Power Rangers Dino ChargeSaban Brands announced the appointment of Planeta Junior to serve as the licensing agent for Saban’s Power Rangers franchise in territories including Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Cyprus, and parts of Eastern Europe. Planeta Junior will work closely with Saban Brands and Bandai, global master toy licensee, to promote licensing opportunities across all categories and implement a strategy to further introduce the brand in new territories. In addition, distribution of Saban’s Power Rangers television series will also expand with Power Rangers Super Megaforce premiering this fall on Clan TV, the kids’ channel in Spain, followed by the newest season, Power Rangers Dino Charge, debuting in spring 2016.

Disney’s Iger to Be Inducted into Toy Industry Hall of Fame

Robert A. IgerThe Toy Industry Association (TIA) announced that it is inducting Robert A. Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame. Iger was selected by members of TIA in recognition of his significant contributions to the industry and the impact his work has had on the lives of children worldwide.

Iger joins an impressive roster of 70 toy industry luminaries, including Jim Henson and George Lucas, who have been inducted into the Hall since it was established in 1984. The induction ceremony will be held on February 12, 2016, in conjunction with the annual Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards celebration at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The ceremony will kick off the 113th North American International Toy Fair. The Toy Industry Hall of Fame is housed with the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong museum in Rochester, NY.

Iger has grown Disney’s portfolio of beloved brands with the acquisition of Pixar (2006), Marvel (2009), and Lucasfilm (2012). In addition, Iger has made Disney an industry leader through its creative content offerings across new and multiple platforms.
