FAO Schwarz’ new 2,000 square-foot Manhattan home is officially set to open its doors this November in Rockefeller Center. ThirtySixty Brands, owners of the toy retailers, spoke yesterday with the Wall Street Journal about how the new location will be focusing on the in-store experience…toy soldiers included.

The FAO flagship is part of a larger brand push by ThreeSixty Brands, which will also include the launch of locations in LaGuardia Airport this fall and one in China next year through brand collaboration with China’s largest toy distributor, Kidsland.

When aNb Media spoke with ThirtySixty Brands for the February issue of Toys & Family Entertainment (TFE) magazine about the brand’s revitalization strategy, ThreeSixty Brands CEO David Conn commented: “For more than 150 years, FAO Schwarz has provided a magical experience for children of all ages. As pioneers of experiential retail, FAO Schwarz continues to spark curiosity with whimsical displays and interactive components through its shop-in-shops and the forthcoming store opening. Today, drawing inspiration from the original classic products and legendary interactive in-store experience, FAO Schwarz will continue to incite endless possibilities and deliver delightful, yet unexpected experiences synonymous with the world’s most famous toy store.”
