Ahead of Shark Week 2019, Discovery unveiled its latest lineup of merchandising partners for the annual television event.

Coming off the heels of its 30th anniversary program last year, Discovery Channel’s Shark Week 2019 has new partners for new apparel, footwear, accessories, toys, home goods, and more. In addition, many of last year’s licensees return with new collections.

New in 2019, Vans will create a line of kids and adult footwear, T-shirts, and accessories just in time for summer. The collection launches in July at Vans stores, as well as Footlocker, Nordstrom, PacSun, Urban Outfitters and other specialty retailers. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Oceana, a charitable organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans on a global scale, and Discovery’s charitable partner.

Following last year’s Shark Week 30th anniversary and Shark Week holiday collections, vineyard vines returns with a new selection of nearly 50 styles for kids, men, and women including apparel, swimwear, and beach accessories.  The collection includes new designs featuring the hammerhead shark and whale shark. It will be available at 50 vineyard vines stores and online.

Build-A-Bear again teamed up with Discovery for a new, exclusive Shark Week collection that includes coordinating clothing options. The toys are now available in all stores and online.

CVS supported Shark Week with a two-foot end cap featuring a line of gifts and novelties in 3,000 stores, launched in May. Products from both new and returning partners will be featured including four beach towel designs by Jay Franco, a leopard shark shaped blanket by Blankie Tails, shark-themed play and figure sets by Bright Kingdom, and plush shark toys by Dandee.

Additional returning partners include Knockaround with its fifth annual exclusive Shark Week sunglasses, T-shirts by Fifth Sun, Crazy Boxer boxer shorts and custom three-packs of Shark Week-themed unisex socks by Sock Fancy. Tervis is debuting three Tervis insulated tumblers, including an augmented-reality tumbler. The Shark Week-themed drinkware will be available at Tervis stores and on Tervis.com.

As part of its Discovery at SEA Program in partnership with Discovery, Princess Cruises will celebrate Shark Week this summer with a variety of events, promotions, themed culinary offerings and exclusive on-board festivities all surrounding the Summer of Shark on Caribbean Princess. Exclusive premiere content will be showcased across 13 ships sailing worldwide.

“For more than three decades, Shark Week has been summer’s must-watch pop culture phenomenon, drawing in millions of viewers to explore the ocean’s depths with these powerful and mysterious creatures,” said Carolann Dunn, vice-president of consumer products licensing, Discovery. “We are thrilled to bring fans such a diverse slate of merchandise to help them show their love for Shark Week this summer and beyond.”

Found in 220 countries and territories around the globe, Shark Week is a pop culture phenomenon that thrills fans of all ages with dynamic programming around these often-misunderstood sea creatures.
