hand2mind, the award-winning educational resource company, announced it is partnering with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) as they attempt a Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest pattern blocks mosaic (pattern). The attempt will take place during the second day of the NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition (September 29, 2022) at the Los Angeles Convention Center at 9 am PST.
The NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition brings together thousands of mathematics educators from around the globe to network, learn, and collaborate by sharing teaching methods, strategies, and tools. At this year’s expo, hand2mind and NCTM plan to create a Pattern Blocks pattern 25 feet long by 12.5 feet wide. The highly anticipated event will have an official Guinness World Records adjudicator on-site to confirm the attempt. If the attempt is successful, the Guinness World Records presentation will begin at 3:45 pm PST.

Recognized as a staple of mathematics education since the 1960s, Pattern Blocks are designed to provide a wide range of skills exploration for kids as they put the pieces together to learn about shapes, colors, patterns, and more. The six assorted blocks come in a variety of shapes and colors including green triangles, orange squares, blue parallelograms, tan rhombuses, red trapezoids, and yellow hexagons.
Those attending the NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition can witness the Guinness World Records attempt for the “world’s largest pattern blocks mosaic (pattern)” on September 29, 2022, starting at 9 am PST in the Exhibit Hall.
