The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual world and subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has launched a partnership with Cloudco Entertainment and its iconic property, Madballs. Madballs has sold millions of toys since its initial launch in the 80s and has an extensive consumer products program, inclusive of apparel, video games, comic books, and more.
The partnership with Madballs will include the development of digital collectibles and the introduction of a unique Avatar collection. Each Avatar will be based on the original, outrageously disgusting Madballs characters, plus never-before-seen designs from the ‘80s, featuring ghastly faces, grotesque names, and disruptively funny attitudes to match. Customized with unique, randomly generated traits, each Madball boasts over 20 hand-crafted animations and offers a first-of-its-kind experience in The Sandbox metaverse.
The Sandbox will be a new home for the iconic brand’s community and fans, adding subversive humor and gross-out elements through challenges, events, and pranks on their newly acquired LAND. Avatars will also unlock utilities and collect specific rewards during upcoming events, including a new multiplayer experience coming out on 21 March 2023, which will grant Avatar holders access to a special reward pool. Eligible holders of Madballs Avatars will receive a wacky Madballs Madness surprise to pair with their virtual Madballs Avatar.
The Avatars will go on sale to the public on 8 March 2023. Registration for the allow list is open here until 6 March at 7pm UTC. Pre-mint for buyers on the allow list will start on 7 March 2023 at 7pm UTC, while the public mint will start on 8 March 2023 at 7pm UTC. The Avatars will be revealed on 10 March 2023 at 7pm UTC.

The Sandbox and Madballs partnership follows a successful and highly anticipated collaboration between Madballs, and its archnemesis Garbage Pail Kids, as they duked it out in a “battle of the grossest” across toy, comic book, apparel, and accessories lines.
