Konami Brings World of Warcraft to Japan
Konami has obtained the exclusive rights from Cryptozoic Entertainment to distribute the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game in Japan. After kicking off in the United States and Europe, the game has now spread to 54 countries, including China and Korea.
In addition to selling the cards, Konami will host a variety of activities that are indispensable in the promotion of card games, such as ranked matches, national tournaments, and the qualification of a player to represent Japan in the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game World Championships.
Booster packs and two types of Class Starter Decks will be available this fall, marking the first of the Japanese versions of the game to be released.
Jakks’ Tollytots Signs Deal with Safety First
Jakks Pacific’s Tollytots division has signed a worldwide master toy license with Dorel Juvenile Group, Inc., a division of Dorel Industries for its Safety 1st brand.
Under the licensing agreement, Tollytots will develop, market, and distribute a comprehensive line of preschool and early learning toys for infants and toddlers, which is expected to launch in fall 2012.
Synergy Licensing, exclusive licensing agency for Dorel Juvenile Group, brokered the deal.
Cartoon Network Signs Jazwares for Adventure Time
Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE) announced a partnership with Jazwares to create a full line of toys based on the characters from Adventure Time with Finn and Jake, which includes Jake the dog, Finn the human, Princess Bubblegum, The Ice King, and many others. Available at Toys “R” Us retailers in the U.S. and Canada starting this fall, the Adventure Time toy line will be comprised of a wide range of SKUs including figures, plush, and roleplay items.
D3 Signs Nickelodeon’s Victorious
D3Publisher (D3P) announced a worldwide publishing agreement with Nickelodeon for video games based on Victorious. Victorious: Time to Shine for the Kinect for Xbox 360 and Victorious: Hollywood Arts Debut for the Nintendo DS allows players to dive into the show’s Hollywood Arts High School world. Players can create their own character and become a new student alongside Tori Vega and the Victorious cast.
