Sony Appoints International Agents for CP and Theatrical Promotions
In anticipation of its theatrical releases in 2013 and 2014, Sony Pictures has appointed new agents in certain territories to pursue consumer products and theatrical promotions for films such as After Earth, the new Will and Jaden Smith release; The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones; and Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers; as well as its classic film and television library.
For Iberia, Greece, and Eastern Europe, it has assigned licensing and promotional rights to Planeta Junior. Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will be handled by Lizenzwerft. The Middle East Region will be serviced by Forward Licensing.
In the United Kingdom, licensing has been brought in-house with the appointment of Gustavo Antonioni from The Brand Buro Ltd. to oversee sales and retail activity as well as assist in managing all of the international agents.
JLG Food Extensions for Sierra Mist and Mug
The Joester Loria Group (JLG) has brokered a deal for Sierra Mist and Mug with Kisko to launch a line of freezer bars. Sierra Mist will come in assorted flavors of Lemon-Lime, Cranberry Splash, and Strawberry Kiwi Splash. Mug will offer both Root Beer and Cream Soda bars.
Launching spring 2013 in the U.S. and Canada, Sierra Mist and Mug freezer bars will be offered in a variety of sizes and pack formats.
Lawless Signs Mudpuppy for The Little Prince
Lawless Entertainment announced a deal with Galison/Mudpuppy on behalf of The Little Prince. Mudpuppy, a division of Galison Publishing, will develop puzzles, a locked diary, colored pencils, stencils, and more utilizing art from The Little Prince. The merchandise will initially debut in the U.S. in January 2013 and in May 2013 in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional items will be released in August 2013 in the U.S. and December 2013 in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
TSG Brands Acquires Big Chill and Triple Star
TSG Brands announced the acquisition of two outdoor fashion lifestyle brands, Big Chill and Triple Star. TSG Brands acquired the brands from Paramount Apparel.
The purchase of Big Chill and Triple Star serves as the starting point from which TSG Brands will continue to acquire and manage a portfolio of brands and companies for the consumer fashion market.
Well known in the outerwear market, Big Chill and Triple Star will be re-architected and branded under the ownership and creative direction of TSG Brands. “We look forward to re-imagining both fashion brands, retooling the branding and merchandising, as well as outlining a comprehensive licensing strategy,” said Allie Sutton, CEO of TSG Brands, in a statement. He continued, “We are in discussions with strategic partners regarding licensing both brands for core outerwear categories, and are looking to extend the brand into complementary outdoor categories in the near future.”
HillBilly Brand Expands into Brazil
HillBilly Brand, Inc., and Trademarketing Resources, Inc., announced the signing of a new sub-agent representation agreement with Supermarcas Participacçõs Ltda.
Supermarcas Participacçõs Ltda is one of the largest licensing companies in Latin America and focused on lifestyle brands. Supermarcas has licensed a diverse array of well-known international brands such as Pepsi, Ford, Top Gun, Audrey Hepburn, and Hang Ten as well as many brands well-known in the Latin American marketplace.
HillBilly Brand, Inc., is focused on promoting the HillBilly Brand as a country lifestyle and outdoor living brand.
Three Stooges Beach Towels from Mutual Sales
C3 Entertainment, Inc., The Three Stooges brand owner, announced a new licensing agreement with Mutual Sales for classic Three Stooges-themed beach towels.
The Three Stooges-themed beach towels are expected in spring 2013 with national distribution through all U.S. retail channels.
Hello Kitty Beach Line from Morgan
Morgan Home Fashions announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Sanrio, Inc., in the beach products category. Hello Kitty will now join Morgan’s portfolio of brands such as Thomas, Marvel, and Strawberry Shortcake.
The Hello Kitty line will feature pop-up tents, indoor and outdoor activity mats, roll-up mats, lounge and beach chair covers, swim sacs, and collapsible beach chairs. The line will hit stores for the 2013 beach season.
