Hasbro Named Master Toy for UglyDolls

Hasbro has been named the master global toy licensee for STX Entertainment’s UglyDolls franchise. The agreement combines STX’s content creation, marketing and distribution expertise across all platforms with Hasbro’s commitment to creating engaging play experiences and entertainment.

The UglyDolls franchise is set to kick off with an animated feature film slated for a 2019 release via STXfilms with additional UglyDolls projects in the works across the company’s multiple divisions, including STXtelevision, STXdigital and STXsurreal.

Created in 2001 as a plush toy line by David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim, the Uglydoll brand quickly gained a cult following around the world and in 2006, was named Toy of the Year by The Toy Association.

“Our roots are deeply intertwined with a profound love for the toy industry,” said David Horvath of Pretty Ugly, LLC. “We’ve been fans of Hasbro’s toy lines for ages, and are great admirers of their creativity and aesthetic sensibility. We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Hasbro and STX Entertainment on the UglyDolls franchise.”

The global master toy deal between STX Entertainment and Hasbro was brokered by Stephanie Sperber at White Space Entertainment.

Greeenpeace & Maya the Bee Campaign Launches

Greenpeace and Planeta Junior have launched the GREENPEACE & MAYA SOS ABEJAS campaign, to raise children’s awareness of the importance of saving the bees.

In this campaign, Greenpeace and Planeta Junior are giving Maya the Bee the task of raising interest in improving our environment and developing children’s ability to inform themselves of bees’ importance as pollinators.
The campaign was launched at Mood Serrano, Madrid this morning in the presence of Greenpeace ambassador actress Manuela Velasco. Journalist Belén Carreño chaired the
discussion between bee‐keeper José Llaxacóndor, Health Coach Beatriz Larrea and Greenpeace Agriculture Campaigns Manager Lluis Ferreirim. The event was hosted by Ignacio
Segura, Director General of Planeta Junior.

The campaign ad premiered on YouTube, and thanks to a special partnership, Maya and her message will be given a dedicated space in YouTube Kids with recommended videos featuring advice on how to help the bees.
