The Licensing Awards 2023 Announces Winners

The winners of the 2023 Licensing Awards have been crowned in a glittering ceremony, with over 1,200 industry executives filling The Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel for an evening of celebration. The event opened with a special message from Angry Birds’ Red, before Jakki Brown, director at Max Publishing (which owns and organises The Licensing Awards), officially welcomed everyone, saying: “It is incredible seeing everyone here at what is the largest Licensing Awards event for many, many years. I have a feeling it will be a night to remember. Tonight, there are almost 1,300 of us here all to celebrate everything that is great about our industry. These awards exist only because of you. Licensing, to be successful, needs everyone to work together. This event is testament to the enormous talent, passion, commitment and engagement from all strands of our industry.”

MGA Entertainment Appoints MEABRANDS as Licensing Agent for MENA

Jurassic World Alive Collaborates with Mattel

Blockbuster geo-location and AR-based mobile game Jurassic World Alive and Mattel have partnered for an in-game collaboration featuring Mattel’s Jurassic Park ’93 Classic Action Figure Collection starring the iconic hero, the T. rex, as originally seen 30 years ago in the epic 1993 Jurassic Park film from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. Jurassic World Alive players can now digitally collect the famous Mattel T. rex action figure in-game, tapping into the nostalgic memories of the toys inspired by the classic film. Hanna Andersson Launches Bluey Collaboration

Hanna Andersson, the leading premium children and baby apparel brand is partnering with BBC Studios Kids & Family to bring to life a collection inspired by the beloved animated show, Bluey, featuring the brand’s iconic PJs, as well as a graphic tee, joggers, a crewneck sweatshirt, and a playful dress and legging set. Toikido Partners with Chuck E Cheese On Expansive Piñata Smashlings Promotional Campaign

Toikido, the London-based entertainment company on the cutting edge of digital design and toys, is partnering with Chuck E Cheese, the world’s number one global family entertainment fun center, to bring an immersive Piñata Smashlings experience to young fans, in-game and in-store, that will include the popular entertainment brand’s signature Chuck E Cheese characters’ first official IP integration on Roblox. The fully integrated three month-long campaign begins in October and runs until the end of the year at participating Chuck E Cheese fun centers across the U.S. and Canada. WildBrain CPLG Launches Global Location-Based Entertainment Business with New China Deals Brokered for Peanuts, Teletubbies and In the Night Garden

WildBrain CPLG, a world-leading entertainment, sport and brand licensing agency, is continuing the expansion of its global strategy with the launch of a new location-based entertainment (LBE) business to drive opportunities for WildBrain’s franchise brands as well as partner brands such as Peanuts and PLAYMOBIL, with an initial focus on China and Asia Pacific (APAC). Veteran licensing executive, Kevin Suh is working with WildBrain CPLG to build out the global LBE strategy. Based in Los Angeles, Suh’s remit includes driving key opportunities across territories worldwide. Formerly President of Themed Entertainment & Consumer Products at Paramount Pictures, Suh oversaw global location-based entertainment for all Paramount Global brands, including Paramount Pictures, CBS, Nickelodeon and more, with key franchises including SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek, PAW Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Suh managed a portfolio of over 20 Paramount Global-branded entertainment destinations and programs worldwide across theme parks, hotels and resorts, restaurants, retail businesses and stage plays. Previously, Suh was a senior executive at the Motion Picture Association of America and a lawyer in California.
