Spotlight Licensing to Launch Licensing Program for ‘Samurai Rabbit: the Usagi Chronicles’

Spotlight Licensing has been appointed by Gaumont to launch and manage the global merchandise licensing program for Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles (which debuted on Netflix April 28th). 2022 may be the Year of the Tiger but it is also shaping up to be a big year for the rabbits of the highly anticipated Netflix animated kids series Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles and long-running and award-winning Stan Sakai comic book series Usagi Yojimbo that inspired it.

Mattel Partners with HBO Max, Cartoon Network on Two Live-Action American Girl Specials

Mattel, Incorporated announced that it is partnering with HBO Max and Cartoon Network on a pair of new live-action American Girl specials based on the hit doll and book line. The first special, American Girl: Corinne Tan (wt), focuses on the brand’s 2022 Girl of the Year of the same name. Produced by MarVista Entertainment, a Fox Entertainment Company, American Girl: Corinne Tan will premiere this December on Cartoon Network and the following day on HBO Max. A second American Girl special will follow in 2023.

Silvergate Media teams up with Tencent Video to Bring ‘The Creature Cases’ to China

Silvergate Media is joining forces with Tencent Video to bring its new animated series The Creature Cases to China. Silvergate will also partner with Tencent Video on a full consumer products roll-out in China from 2023, to be led by toys and publishing. The Creature Cases is an action, comedy and detective series animated by TeamTo that follows the adventures of a unique detective duo who specialize in solving animal mysteries. The first series, launched on Netflix on April 12th, 2022, is soon to be released on Tencent Video, which will significantly expand the broadcast reach to families across China.

Surge Licensing to Create Merchandising Programs for WEBTOON Content in North America

WEBTOON, the world’s largest digital comics platform, has appointed brand management company Surge Licensing as the exclusive North American licensing agent for the platform. Genuine Entertainment’s Joe LeFavi was instrumental in developing the partnership and will continue to collaborate with WEBTOON and Surge as a strategic advisor in the endeavor.

Moose Toys Plans to Create More Licensing ‘Magic’ with Magic Mixies and The Legend of Akedo

Moose Toys, a leading innovator in the toy industry, has found ‘magic’ in the licensing of its popular brands, and it is poised to do so again with Magic Mixies Mixlings, a new collectible line based on global sales phenom Magic Mixies Magic Cauldron and The Legend of Akedo, an action-packed line of collectibles that represents the toymaker’s biggest boys’ brand launch to date. WildBrain CPLG, licensing agency for the two brands, will be hosting the toymaker at its booth (#E154) during the Licensing Show in Las Vegas, May 24-26, 2022, for vendors interested in partnering with the brands. WildBrain CPLG represents Magic Mixies Mixlings in the U.S. and Canada from its dedicated North America office; the company has the global licensing rights for The Legend of Akedo.
