This fall, Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, and Boat Rocker released the fifth and sixth titles in their publishing program based on the entertainment company’s hit preschool series Dino Ranch, where the Wild West meets prehistoric times. Pterodactyl Attack!, a new 8×8 storybook, and a Level 1 reader titled Home on the Ranch became widely available in September and joined four previously published titles, including a Water Wonder novelty book. The Scholastic publishing program is geared to ages 3 to 8, and combines two kid-favorite themes, dinosaurs and cowboys, for sureto-please stories.
Boat Rocker announced last month that the show has been renewed for a third season, to be aired on Disney Junior and Disney+ in Fall 2023 in the U.S. and Canada with international markets to follow. Since launching in January 2021 on Disney Junior, Dino Ranch is #1 in its timeslot and was nominated for best Preschool Animation by the 2022 Rockies Awards. Season 2 premiered this summer in the U.S., and included a tentpole special, Dino-SOAR, that launched August 26 and introduced new flying dino friends. Season 1 (52 episodes) is now streaming on Disney+.
Dino Ranch follows the action-packed adventures of the Cassidy family as they tackle life in a fantastical, “pre-westoric” setting where dinosaurs still roam. This thrill-a-minute series packed with comedic, rough and tumble fun introduces kids to problem solving, the foundations of forging life-long friendships, strengthening family and community bonds, and taking care of animals in the dino sanctuary.
Even more dino-fun is coming from Scholastic in 2023: the Spanish translation of T-Rex Trouble (Rancho Dinosaurio: ¡Lío de tiranosaurios!)—which originally released May 17, 2022—will be published on January 3, 2023, with more to follow. Scholastic’s worldwide Dino Ranch publishing program launched in spring 2022 and the deal includes a wide range of formats including readers, sticker storybooks, novelty, activity books, and audiobooks.
