LEGO Super Mario Introduces Luigi & Two-Player Mode

LEGO Super Mario + Luigi

LEGO Super Mario’s latest update will allow fans to connect their LEGO Mario and soon to be released LEGO Luigi figures for two-player adventures.

Players will be able to connect the figures via Bluetooth and play as a team to collect extra digital coins by synchronizing actions like walking, flipping, and jumping, as well as working in tandem to defeat enemies, complete challenges, and share rewards. Players also have the option of competing against each other.

Luigi makes his LEGO debut when the Adventures with Luigi Starter Course, allowing both single and dual play, launches August 1. Mario and Luigi figures can be found in separate starter courses for each of the characters. The Adventures with Mario Starter Course is currently available to fans.

LEGO Super Mario is also extending its product line with four new expansion sets, two new power-up packs, and 1o new character packs. Along with the Luigi starter course, Bowser’s Airship Expansion Set (also launching August 1) can now be pre-ordered.

Other new items arriving August 1 include the Boss Sumo Bro Topple Tower Expansion Set, Lakitu Sky World Expansion Set, Reznor Knockdown Expansion Set, Frog Mario Power-Up Pack, Bee Mario Power-Up Pack, and Series 3 Character Packs.

As part of the Bowser’s Airship set, players will be able to build Bowser’s flying ship and arrange it in one of two modes — “flying” mode or folded out in “course mode” — to take on various challenges. Meanwhile in the Boss Sumo Bro Topple Tower set, kids can bring down the Topple Tower using their Mario and Luigi figures.

Additionally, the new power-up packs give players the option to dress Mario up in his frog or bee costumes.

The 10 collectible characters packs will offer 10 buildable mystery characters, such as Galoomba, Parachute, Bob-omb, Crowber, Boo, Amp, Torpedo Ted, Bony Beetle, 1-Up Mushroom, Scuttlebug, and Swoop.

“For us it’s all about encouraging continuous creative rebuilding and extended playtime,” said LEGO Super Mario Creative Lead Simon Kent. “With today’s announcement, we’re not only bringing LEGO Mario and LEGO Luigi, their friends and enemies to life in new interactive ways for endless fun, we’re also thrilled to expand their play experience and the LEGO Super Mario universe with even more new sets and characters, something we really hope will excite fans.”
