Target Names VTech as 2018 Vendor of the Year

Target has recognized VTech as its 2018 Vendor of the Year.

“We work closely with our vendor partners on all aspects of our business, and VTech played a key role in the great progress we made within Toys in 2018,” said Mark Tritton, executive vice-president and chief merchandising officer, Target. “From inventory management to product innovation and more, their efforts helped us bring guests more of the tech toys they love, and ultimately pick up sales and market share as more families choose Target for all of their toy needs.”

VTech paired its toy industry knowledge with Target’s guest insights to help Target create an action plan and make some important enhancements to tis toy aisles, according to a Target press release. For kids who are early tech adopters, Target introduced pretend-play products such as the Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 and KidiBuzz hand-held smart device.

Target also expanded its aisles with a line of activity toys including the Ultimate Alphabet Activity Cube and the Touch and Learn Activity Desk Deluxe to aid in the development of  shape and color recognition and hand-eye coordination through play.

VTech also added product exclusives to 500 Target stores that reallocated space last fall to make room for more toys. As those products grew in popularity, VTech worked closely with Target’s merchandising teams to plan ahead, keep them in stock—even during the busiest weeks of the holiday rush— and create new marketing experiences around some of the exclusive items.

Earlier this month, VTech was also recognized by Walmart as a 2018 Supplier of the Year for the first time.
