Big Bad Boo Studios promoted Paddy Gillen to vice-president of production as the studio looks to bolster its production arm.

In her new role, Gillen will be responsible for fostering, managing and expanding Big Bad Boo’ss various shows in production, currently TVOKids’s 16 Hudson and the Hulu Original Series The Bravest Knight.

In a statement, Big Bad Boo o-Founder Shabnam Rezaei said as the company looks to produce multiple series and branch out from 2-D animation to 3-D and live-action, Gillen’s vision and expertise in both development and production make her an ideal choice to lead the Vancouver-based studio in all aspects of production.

Gillen has 20 years of experience developing and producing live action and animated series in various formats. She is credited with managing Big Bad Boo’s development projects as well as production on major original programming such as 1001 Nights, 16 Hudson, Lili & Lola and The Bravest Knight.

Prior to joining Big Bad Boo, Gillen co-founded and ran Toolshed Productions, an award-winning music video/commercial production company. Gillen also served as head of production at Atomic Cartoons, production manager at The Embassy VFX, and as a freelance producer, managing numerous commercial and music videos in various locations worldwide. In her new role, she will continue to report to Rezaei.

This new appointment follows news of Big Bad Boo expanding its production roster. Late 2018, the preschool series 16 Hudson premiered on TVOKids, with additional broadcast partner Knowledge Kids. The show premiered in April in French on SRC Radio Canada. The launch of Lili & Lola season two followed shortly after on digital platforms such as Oznoz and Amazon Prime Video. This summer, Big Bad Boo premiered five episodes of The Bravest Knight exclusively on Hulu, with more episodes to come this fall. Currently in production are season two of 16 Hudson and additional episodes of The Bravest Knight. In development are the environmentally focused series, Galapagos X, and the backyard courtroom comedy, Judge Jodhi.
